The story behind
ValiPorta Bead Studio

We started in a small studio in Marin County teaching neighbors how to craft with nature’s most patient materials.

Our beginning

THE FOUNDATION

ValiPorta Bead Studio began when founder Lena Voss started collecting naturally fallen nuts and driftwood along California’s coast. What started as personal practice quickly grew into structured workshops focusing on slow, intentional bead weaving.

We believe the physical act of knotting, stringing, and arranging inspires mindfulness and focus that modern life often lacks. From that simple idea emerged a method of teaching that balances skill-building with deep respect for natural materials.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Our mission

We teach authentic bead weaving using only organic, responsibly sourced materials and time-honored techniques. Our students leave with real skills and new perspectives on patience and craftsmanship.

Every course is designed so learners can create tangible, lasting pieces they feel proud to wear or share with loved ones.

Teaching philosophy

Slow is beautiful. We prioritize intention over speed in every lesson.
Hands-on mastery. Students finish projects they can keep, wear, or gift immediately.
Community first. Our instructors stay involved long after a course ends through our online and in-person alumni program.
“Bead weaving is an ancient practice that reminds us to slow down and observe the beautiful details of everyday materials.”
— Lena Voss, Founder
